Hello! I’m Emma, I can’t wait to meet you!

Registered, MBACP Therapeutic Counsellor

I feel that everyone has the potential, to learn how to love themselves, alongside living and being the best version of themselves. My mission is to help you work towards what happiness looks like for you, whilst discovering the best versions of yourself.

Qualified in both Person centred therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, I combine my two modalities and adapt my ways of working, to suit you. My therapy is driven by your needs and what you want to explore, whilst including techniques and different skills to encourage your growth and journey to acceptance.

My unique approach focuses on making you welcome, valued and understood, with the openness in our working relationship and trust within our partnership being the centre of our work together.

I am here as your counsellor, but most importantly I am committed to our trusted partnership together, where we can discover the best versions of you. The only person in your way is you - lets start this process together today.

My experience as a therapist

I started whilst in training, working in two placements where I found my love for counselling. I worked in a Womens Centre whilst also working for a Children’s Bereavement Centre, meaning I have experience with both adults and children aged 6+ years.

Children and young people experience

I trained with a charity based in Nottingham, working with bereaved children, teenagers and adults, who have experienced a loss in the family. I knew after experiencing a traumatic bereavement as a young woman, I would always hold a special place in my heart for supporting those who have lost someone.

School experience

I continued further work, working in primary and secondary schools, with children and teens, supporting them in counselling sessions. I absolutely loved working in the different schools and experienced a diverse cliental, working on everything from family issues and identity, to anxiety and depression.

EAP work

I currently work for a well known EAP company, as a Clinical Case Manager, offering in the moment support alongside managing clinical cases and referrals.

Private Practice clients

I currently have a wide variety of clients as part of my private practice, where I have worked online and remotely, with clients all over the UK. Again, experience is very varied, where I cover a wide range of issues and experiences. Check my FAQs for more info.

Face to Face clients

Remote working is great, but I missed seeing people face to face! I have my own therapy room close to my home, in the Clay Cross Area of Derbyshire, S45. My cosy therapy room is a great space to really explore everything going on for you, whilst having a cuppa together.

 FAQs

  • I studied for a total of 5 years to become the best version I can be as a counsellor today, whilst continuing CPD consistently every year. My initial counselling qualification is in the Person Centred approach, whilst I studied for an additional year in CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy). CBT and Person Centred therapy combined together, gives me the variety to work across the two modalities in different techniques and skills, meaning my therapy can be designed to suit you and your needs. I am fully DBS checked, alongside being a member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy), whilst also working towards my accreditation.

  • I typically undergo between 350-400 hours of CPD per year - as counsellors we only require a total of 30 per year. I do this so I can be the best version of myself for you as my client.

My most known additional CPD/qualifications are as follows:

    • Level 2 in Childrens & Young People’s Mental Health

    • Level 2 Self-Harm and Suicide Awareness

  • Depending on you and your needs, counselling sessions with myself are designed to work with you and to benefit you. All depending on what you are looking for, counselling sessions can be weekly, bi-weekly and even monthly. My counselling sessions last for 50 minutes in total.

  • Once you have made contact with me, your contact form will hit my inbox. I offer a free, 20 minute consultation, where we can get to know one another and see if we would like to start working together. During the consultation call, we can agree at a time and date that suits, to go ahead with your first session.
